How To Find A Public Restroom Near You When Nature Calls

by DB on August 28, 2008

The code of the road is, if there is anything to eat, eat; if there is a place to sit, sit; if there is a restroom, go. (Quote : Jessica Savitch)

There are times when you are out, away from home, and have to use a restroom badly. If you are familiar with the place you are currently in, you know where to find a clean public restroom. What do you if you are travelling and are in a new place? Try one of the following services to help you out.

TheBathRoomDiaries.com

TheBathRoomDiaries.com service is more than 8 years old and currently provides information on public toilets in more than 100 countries. They have a database of more than 12000 public toilets from across the globe including developed countries like USA and Australia to countries in Africa like Ghana and Zimbabwe.

Just point your mobile device to their website and you can check to see if there are any public restrooms in the location you are currently in. While on the BathRoomDiaries Website, don’t forget to check out their Golden Plungers page featuring some of the best bathrooms in the world.

MizPee.com

MizPee.com is a free “where to go on the go” service or in other words it is a clean restroom finding service. MizPee.com is owned and operatedy by YoJoMobile. MizPee’s service can be used in two ways. If you have a mobile device on you, text your location with city name and state to 415-350-2290 and you will receive a list of public restrooms by sms back. I think MizPee needs to find an easy to remember number for this sms service. Another way to access the service is by pointing your web browser to the MizPee.com website. Enter your location and it will show the closest restrooms. You can also narrow your search for finding restrooms with handicap access and the ones with diaper-changing stations.

You can also use MizPee’s Looisms service on the same website once you are inside the restroom and need something to read. They also have a deals finder service that can help you find some good deals in the area that you are currently in.

Here is what MizPee’s easy to use web interface service looks like on my iPhone.

Imodium.com’s Bathroom Finder

The Bathroom finder service seems a little out of place on the website of a drug like Imodium. But it makes perfect sense if you know that Imodium is a drug used to control and treat diarrhea. Imodium’s bathroom finder service displays the closest available public restroom to your US zip code on a yahoo map. Remember, this service will only work for locations inside the US.

Diaroogle.com

Diaroogle.com is yet another restroom finding service that currently only serves manhattan. Diaroogle also shows pictures of the actual restrooms, if available. Ratings on Cleanliness, Privacy and Accessibilty are also provided along with a Google map showing the location.

If you know of any more such services, please drop me a line using this contact form.

Came over from ProBlogger. The title was good because it was to the point. What really hooked me was the topic itself. Hate going places when I am not sure where to find the restroom. I am definitely bookmarking this for future reference. Well done.

Dang I sure could have used this service when we were living in the Middle East. Mmmm but your post mentions ‘clean restrooms’… ok so that wouldn’t have been an option! Awesome post and good info. Thanks!
